The tundra is the coldest biome of them all. A large majority of the world's tundra is located on the artic circle. The artic circle is the area of land and water that surrounds the north pole. Some parts of the tundra can be found in Antarctica as well. The climate is the coldest and driest in the tundra. Winters are long and summers are short. In the winter, temperatures can get as low as -50°F. Summers only last for about 6-10 weeks and the temperature never exceeds 50°F. During the summer the soil becomes moist and the water from snow and rain is preserved in the permafrost six inches below the ground. When is comes to precipitation it rains less than 10 inches annually in the tundra.
